So I’ve heard this question thrown around quite frequently and whenever I’ve heard it, I’ve never really had a straight answer. If I could have all the money in the world or the love of my life, which would I choose? Seeing as how I’ve never had both, this is based purely on speculation and what I think to be a somewhat logical thought process. Obviously if you asked someone their opinion after they’ve had both money and the love of their life, they wouldn’t be able to give any useful input because they never had to choose.
The answer to this question varies from person to person, based on morals, selfishness, and basic needs. Again, if someone has experience what they thought was “True Love” but has lost that love, then they are most likely to choose the money option, unless they are really optimistic that the will again find “True Love,” but that depends on the time interval between their breakup and the decision and their general outlook on life. If someone is used to a life of riches and wealth but has recently lost said wealth and riches, then they would hastily choose money over love. So in case you haven’t picked up on it yet, the decision is somewhat relative to each person’s current situation.
Casting aside all extenuating circumstances, let’s try to find out the best choice when one has never experienced “True Love” and has not ever had all the money they could wish for. True love promises a life full of affection and someone that will support you. No worries about your legacy ending when you are dead (assuming True Love to you included fertility). Someone to come home to at the end of they day and confide in with your problems/concerns/or general thoughts. You can fill in the rest of the line of benefits from “True Love,” the sequence is pretty linear here.
Now with getting all the money in the world, there becomes a myriad of options to choose from. You can buy land, houses, cars, islands, food, electronics, and whatever else tickles your fancy. Once you obtain everything you want, you can wait another year or so and then go through it all again and get the latest and greatest of what you bought at first. It pretty much ends there, if that gets you by for the rest of your life then more power to you.
I didn’t really write the cons for either choice, except kind of the money choice with the whole waiting a year or so until you can buy the new things you want. After reviewing what I’ve written above, I can honestly say I would choose True Love over Money. However, I acknowledge that this choice is influenced greatly on current moods and things of the such. There have been times, and I’m sure there will be more in the future, where I just want as much money as possible so I can buy whatever I want. This is more of a rash decision than a well thought out one though. So my choice, as of today, is True Love.
Alright, now you all can debate on the existence of “True Love” or the impossibility of it and how money can buy you love blah blah blah. It’s all open to interpretation and seeing as how I’ve never experienced either at this point in my life, I find my viewpoint to be unbiased for the most part.
So lately I’ve been busy mostly with school work, Spring semester has started and I have a little large work load on my shoulders than I did last semester. It should all be manageable though. I’ve been working on learning the acoustic guitar in my spare time, learning songs such as: Theory of a Deadman – Wait for me , Seether – Broken , Various Pink Floyd songs, A Day to Remember – If it means a lot to you , and other songs of that sort.
Looking more toward the immediate future, I’m pretty excited for the release of Mass Effect 2 this Tuesday. I’ve got it pre-ordered from Amazon and set to ship to me that day (wOOt). Suffice to say, my remaining free time will be spent on that game because I expect it to be pretty much uhmazing. Also, Apple will announce some new things this wednesday I believe, so that is always exciting. From what I hear the iPhone will most likely no longer be exclusive to AT&T, which is a good thing. Granted I still won’t buy one because with the data plan that is a very expensive phone. I’ll stick with my iPod Touch and the phone that I currently have. I’m curious to see what else Apple has in store for use that people haven’t already alluded to, which seems impossible since everyone seems to have put way too much thought into what Apple will announce. Luckily it always comes as somewhat of a surprise when they announce something.
So CES has been going on in Las Vegas for a day or two now, at least the portion that’s open to the press. I’ve been checking out the Revision3 coverage of CES and I must say they do a find job. I also watched a majority of the TWiT live broadcast which was also very informative. From what I’ve gathered, here are the main highlights:
- 3-D HDTVs
- Yellow pixels added to standard RGB
- Netbooks, eReaders, and tablet PCs (refered to as Slates)
- Digital media and being mobile but still connected to the internet (Ford sync variations etc.)
I believe, like almost all the people I’ve heard report on it, that the 3-D HDTVs are somewhat pointless. Though there must be some sort of market for them seeing as how every HDTV manufacturer has announced some sort of TV with 3-D capabilities. All the new TV’s will obviously still support regular 2-D video, so in reality I guess it won’t be that bad having the option for 3-D. If only they could eliminate the need to wear the 3-D glasses, then the technology could become a little more appealing.
The Addition of yellow pixels is something different and actually intriguing. On the surface it is such a simple addition; however, the improvements that it can bring are very promising. Better color variation and a picture with more clarification, sounds good to me.
The last two points are all around interesting. It is always cool to see the new tech and look at how they are trying to innovate and appeal to the future market. The Slate PC’s are cool and most likely a ploy to combat Apple and their undoubted reveal of a “table pc” later this month. Also, if I were in the market for a car, I’d be excited for the new Ford Sync technology. Adding all the bells and whistles that are available in a computer/other consumer electronics to a car is very appealing seeing as how most people spend a lot of their time in their cars.
All in all, some very interesting stuff being unveiled and I am now seriously considering making a trip out to Las Vegas next year for CES.
