Perception

So I’ve pretty much done next to nothing productive all day, so as I did nothing, I just kind of started thinking about things.  One of which is how people view media/movies/music/any type of medium that can be looked at multiple ways.  Some people “consume” this media for pure enjoyment, some do it to discover a message, and some just do it for the sake of needing something to do.  I find it kind of fascinating how a creator of this media has to take into account all the wants/desires of the consumers, or not and just produce a piece of media that meets his/her expectations and does what he/she wants it to do.  Personally, I think the producer should just do whatever is needed to get their point across, because let’s face it, almost all music/movies have some kind of point to them, no matter how hidden they are under witty or down right stupid additives, and if they consumer can’t find this point then it all seems quite pointless.

So I realize this is slowly becoming a rant about nothing, I’ll state my main point.  I enjoy media that requires a little thought to figure out what it is trying to say, this isn’t to say that everything is trying to say something profound or anything, but if the purpose is just handed to you, it kind of loses the impact of uncovering it for yourself.
